Interventional Radiologists have completed a fellowship in angiography/interventional radiology after their radiology residency training. Interventional radiologists perform a wide variety of invasive procedures, including angiography, angioplasties and stent placements, drainage procedures, tumor treatment procedures, etc. Many procedures that used to require surgery, with large incisions and lengthy hospital stays, are now performed in a minimally invasive fashion by interventional radiologists.
